The Casela Nature and Leisure Park nestled between Flic en Flac and Tamarin is a fantastic experience for visitors to Mauritius.

It has a little something for everyone: quad safaris; walking with lions; and our favorite: the canyon zip lines.

We recently had the chance to experience Casela Park and we really had a blast. It’s funny that we’ve lived here all our lives and yet have only just discovered how much fun can be had in our own backyard.

If you’re unsure what to plan for your Mauritius holiday, you should seriously consider Casela Park.

Going off road couldn’t be more fun and interactive. You get instructions for using the vehicles before exploring the beautiful Mauritian wilderness with a guide. A few of the animals you might come across in their natural habitat: ostriches, deer, antelope, zebras and monkeys.

The Big Cats

Many visitors have said that taking a walk with the lions or getting up close and personal with these intimidating cats was an unforgettable experience. There are many options available, from observing at a distance to interacting directly with lions, cheetahs and tigers*, it’s such a unique experience you won’t want to miss it.

The Ziplines

We had such a blast doing the zip lines. The full day is varied, starting with a hike. The guides fill you in on the local flora as you walk. A mini-zipline ends in a waterfall pool, which is a lot of fun to land in. A bbq is prepared (grilled fish and chicken, baked potatoes, fresh pineapple for dessert). There are 2 different offers:

‘The Bridge:’ includes a stunning Nepalese bridge you cross gives you a wonderful view and then you have an option for a single or double zipline.

‘The 400:’ For the very adventurous, you can experience the 400m zipline that will completely leave you breathless. In a good way.

A few tips:

  • You ought to make reservations for any of the activities you’re interested in- busy seasons can be booked

  • Bring extra water along for yourself

  • You’ll have to sign a waiver for any of the close-up Big Cat activities
