We have such a wide choice of succulent, unique and mouth-watering restaurants to choose from. We have come up with a list of just a few of our many favorite restaurants to choose from in Mauritius. No matter what your budget might be.
Get out of the hotel! Experience real Mauritian food and mix with the locals! Most of all, let your taste buds have fun in the sun!

Budget & Foodie Friendly Restaurants
The Lazy Dodo (Grand Baie)
Try the simple- yet super tasty- Mauritian food at a shockingly reasonable price. The owner is both friendly and chatty, and you’re guaranteed to enjoy the meal. Your wallet will, too.
Cost: Expect to spend under €10 for a full meal and drink
Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-11pm
Address: La Salette Road, halfway in the middle Grand Baie beach and the local supermarket.

*Tip: Try their specialty, the ‘bol renverse’or the ‘upside down bowl.’ It’s delish!
Ah-Youn (Flic en Flac)
A favorite of local teens for the generous portions at a low price, the hearty meatballs with noodles or rice will fill you up. They specialize in Chinese food with a hint of Mauritius.
Cost: Mains start at €2.50
Hours: noon-3.30pm & 6-10pm

*Tip: Try visiting earlier in the day or later in the evening to avoid the teen crowd.
Green Island Beach Restaurant (Trou d’eau Douce)
We really like this restaurant for several reasons: the vast variety of authentic Mauritian food, which will satisfy everyone’s preferences (and they’re all yummy); the service is superb; and the prices are more than reasonable.
Don’t know what to have? Ask the chef for recommends- he meets his guests personally.
Cost: Mains start from €3.00+
Hours: 12pm-2.30pm & 6-9pm Tue-Sun

*Tip: They’re famous for an excellent crab soup. You will have to shell, but it’s oh-so-worth-it!
Cabanne du Pecheur(Trou Aux Biches)
A ‘couples paradise,’ or even just bonding with a group, you can do it easily with this very modest ‘shack’ of a restaurant. The food: immaculate. The atmosphere: beach, sunset, golden and unforgettable. The service is fast and friendly. Give it a go!
Cost: Less than €15 for a full meal for 2 (drinks, appetizers and mains)

*Tip: Try one of their delicious cocktails to go with your fresh seafood– you won’t be disappointed.
La Chaumière Masala(Ile aux Cerfs)
When you’re looking for modern Indian food that won’t break your budget, this is the place. They offer great service and a quaint, old-fashioned Mauritian ambience.
Cost: Combo platters start at €5.00

*Tip: Try the ‘Thalis,’ which are their specialties (combination plates for sampling a little of everything); they balance the Indian-Mauritian flavors out perfectly.
Domaine Anna (Flic en Flac)
The ever-so-stylish and romantic setting is the first thing you’ll notice. Lamps light the walkway, the sugarcane fields surrounding will give you an original view and experience- and the service is lovely.
For either lunch or dinner (dinner highlights the lamplit romanticism), this is a wonderful Chinese-Mauritian-Creole dining exploration.

Cocoloko(Grand Baie)
This is the place to go for international fare and a great atmosphere. Their cocktail hours are legendary, and the inviting food is a welcome combination. It’s lively. Vibrant. And very much Mauritius, with a cosmopolitan twist.
Cost:€3-7 per meal

*Tip: They have happy hour from 4pm-8. You should also check their program for the nights they have live music– it’s a great experience.

La Table du Chateau (Grande Baie)
After the Chateau visit, there’s nothing better than original Mauritian cuisine presented simply- and deliciously- on the plate. The mixture of fresh ingredients with authentic Mauritian flavors is exquisite. The view is also very picturesque.
Cost: €12+ (drinks add on price)
Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm; Friday/Saturday 8am-midnight; Sunday 9am-5pm

*Tip: Try their catch of the day if you’re a fish lover; very fresh seafood with a unique Mauritian touch. Don’t forget to taste their wonderful wine list for a sublime accompaniment.
Happy Rajah (Grand Baie)
It’s considered ‘North Indian Cuisine.’ You can expect some of the best Indian food, which is prepared traditionally. The spices and décor are very Indian- yet very Mauritian. A quick glance outside and you’re back on our beautiful island. Fantastic service and price for what they deliver to the table.
Cost: €2.00-€20.00
*Hours: Closed Sunday, Mon-Sat 11:30pm to 2:30pm & 6:30pm to 10:00 pm

Le Chamarel (Chamarel)
If you have lunch here, it includes a stunning vista view of the lagoon. The gorgeous surroundings guarantee an unforgettable experience. The food is typical for Mauritius: Indian, French and African combined. The presentation of the dishes alone will make your mouth water.
Cost: €15-30 per person 2000 Rs
Hours: Lunch only (12pm-3pm)

Chez Tino (Ile aux Cerfs)
The first floor terrace has a wonderful view to accompany the seafood-oriented Mauritius cuisine. You probably wouldn’t guess from the modest exterior, but this is one of the best Creole restaurants on the island.
Cost: €7-25 per person (depending on set menu or independent orders + drinks)
Hours: Mon-Sat 8.30am-10pm, Sunday lunch only, 11am-4pm

*Tip: Try the Mauritian paella, the house specialty. It’s superb.
First Restaurant (Port Louis)
Local Mauritian-Chinese can fill this place to capacity, the food is so good. Their authentic Cantonese dishes (with a Mauritian influence) are original and quite reasonably priced for the portions. You don’t go there for the ambience; you go there for unbelievable eats.
Cost: €15-40 for a dinner for 2
Hours: 12pm-3pm & 6.30-9.30pm Tue-Sun

*Tip: The dim-sum is to die for. A must have when you visit!
Escale Creole (Moka)
Their ‘table d’hôte’ is one of the many charming things about this restaurant. Very authentic Creole cooking, it’s a local mother and daughter team that take pride in their culture, history and their food. It’s an intimate and taste-filled Eden and a perfect escape from hotel fare.
Cost: €15-20 per person
Hours: Only lunch weekdays

*Tip: Reservations are necessary as they cook to order(Phone: +230 433-1641 / 433-7309). Their pork or chicken specialties are divine.
Coolen Chez Ram Restaurant (Grand Baie)
This is another locals favorite for fantastic food for many reasons. You are welcome from the first moment you arrive and the service continues to be great. You can expect savory seafood and Creole dishes at great value for your money.
Cost: €20-60 for 2 people
Hours: 12pm-2.30pm & 6.30-9.30pm Thu-Tue (Closed Wednesday)
